EMPLOYMENT LAW

At Sarkovics Law, I represent employees who have suffered unfair, illegal and retaliatory treatment in the workplace. I have litigated and resolved employment discrimination cases involving wages, discrimination, covenants not compete and retaliation.  I not only work with employees but also employers.  These cases may involve an EEOC claim, ICRC claim, workforce development dispute, and/or private right of action.

Because employment law is deeply personal and complicated, I invest considerable time in staying up-to-date on current Indiana and Federal laws so that I know what has changed and how it may affect you and your situation. Your job is critical to you and your family's way of life.  I want to help you keep or obtain compensation if you've been terminated illegally.

 

State and local laws offer protections for employees and/or independent contractors in the workplace.  Employment law claims include, but are not limited to, discrimination, harassment, violations of the Family Medical Leave Act, and/or wrongful termination.

 

The state and/or local laws applicable to a particular employer may prohibit harassment or prejudicial treatment based upon one or more of the following protected characteristics:

 

  • Race

  • Color

  • Disability, Record of Disability, or Association with a Disabled Person

  • Religion

  • National Origin

  • Family Status

  • Marital Status

  • Ancestry or Place of Birth

  • Age

  • Sex

  • Actual or Perceived Sexual Orientation (including gay, lesbian, bisexual)

  • Gender Identity or Expression

 

Many federal and local laws also prohibit employers from retaliating against employees for reporting or opposing discrimination in the workplace.  

 

Employer representation

I also work directly with employers and other business clients to give them the representation and counsel they need in employement situations, including negotiating employee contracts, employer manual drafting, and all aspects of negotiations and litigation including defense of employment claims.
